Service Description: This map service is published by the Wisconsin Geological and Natural History Survey (WGNHS) and provides approximate locations and identifiers for water wells drilled in Wisconsin during the years 1936 through 1989. This information was compiled from well construction reports (WCRs) that were submitted by well drillers to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. WGNHS has subsequently maintained a database of these records. Well locations were mapped to the centroid of either a section, quarter section, or quarter-quarter section as recorded on the original WCR. These locations have not been field verified, and errors are very common.
